It's hats off to US footballer Malcolm Mitchell, Georgia Bulldogs' Wide Receiver, who has written a children's book to inspire children's reading.
The book, 'The Magician's Hat', is the result of MItchell's own reading journey. Having concentrated on American Football he had neglected reading when he was younger, and had begun to realise he needed to do more in order to be able to participate in college courses.
He began to read and read, and then got chatting about books at his local bookstore, going on to join a monthly bookclub where all the participants were women and twice his age. It didn't put him off like it would have for many young men in their early twenties, he went along built up his skills and knowledge of books and began to start writing notes for his own story.
That story became 'The Magician's Hat', with a magician called David whose power comes through books.
Hatrick's our own magician's hat thinks that it's a sure-fire touch down in August!
