To mark the 90th anniversary of the first publication of Winnie-the-Pooh four new books have been written, with a new character arriving at the Hundred Acre Wood - Penguin!
Brian Selby has penned the new books, and was inspired to creae Penguin after recalling a photograph of
AA Milne and his son Christopher (the inspiration for Christopher Robin) playing with a penguin toy alongside Winnie-the-Pooh. Whilst illustrator Mark Burgess has designed Penguin in the tradition of the original illustrations by E.H. Shepherd.
Gemma-Louise Stevenson's article on the BBC reveals the possible history of the penguin seen in photograph, and how it may have been bought from Harrods, it links with Britain's fascination with Antarctic explorers and how why it may have been left out of the original stories.
