Australia have a very successful children's book series by Wendy Harmer, 'Pearlie in the Park', which has been turned into a television animation in an Australian - Canadian joint venture.
Pearlie is an urban fairy in charge of Jubilee Park, in a modern take on fairies in an Australian urban setting, she lives in a clam in the park fountain and she and her park friends are pitted against the dastardly rats who are out to spoil the park.
Illustrated by Mike Zarb the style is a retro take on 1960s adverts and animation, with a chirpy, cheerie and spiky Pearlie. Think 'My Parents are Aliens' and you've got the style!
There are 16 books in the series, as fairies go from the bottom of your garden, to the big city and Down Under, see more at http://www.wendyharmer.com/childrensbooks.html.
Good luck Australia in Eurovision's 60th.
